Advanced materials

CF_Piston.JPG

The rapid evolution of the composites has widened the range of application for these advanced materials.

Currently under design is a range of hybrid material components to substitute the metal components also within the thermal group of the engine.

This is done with the aim of reducing weight and meet the higher performance delivery of high end internal combustion engines.

Optimised components

Materials quality and alloy performance are evolving at the same rate as the non conventional manufacturing processes. These two aspects allow to design components optimise to use the materials they are made of more efficiently: the core material is placed only where it withstand forces, and coatings are used for specialised tasks.

Morphology optimisation and 3D printing are enabling the design and manufacturing of components otherwise impossible with any other material removing method.

Electronics & controls

The most efficient system outputs are obtained from the symbiotic use of electronics for the management of the mechanical components.

Bespoke control units and dedicated control codes have been developed for the management of custom made subsystem.
